Job title
Researcher Mirjam de Bruijn is Professor of Contemporary History and Anthropology of Africa at Leiden University and Professor of Citizenship and Identities in Africa at the African Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL). She has done considerable fieldwork in Chad, Cameroon and Mali. At the International Centre for Frugal Innovation Mirjam takes part in the M-Health combating schistosomiasis in Southern Chad project.
Among her research interests are:
- the relationship between agency, mobility, communication, marginality and technology;
- nomadism;
- violence and human rights;
- social (in)security;
- social and economic exclusion etc.
