Jacqueline Gaybor Tobar

Jacqueline was a PhD candidate at the International Institute of Social Studies (Erasmus University Rotterdam). She completed a Master in Development Studies with a focus on human rights, gender and conflict studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam.  She previously worked as a consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme in Paris advising on the advancement and implementation of governmental environment policies and for the United Nations Development Programme in Ecuador.

Currently leading the Menstrual Technologies, Gender and Development project, her research looks at the relations between science, technology and society, paying particular attention to:

  • the social and environmental impact that the production and use of technologies for menstrual management have on women's health and on the environment; but also
  • an emerging movement of menstrual activists in Argentina, which is seeking to change menstrual management practices through the innovation of reusable menstrual technologies.
